Put your new Garage Floor Coating company to the TEST

Custom Garage Works has been providing many years of top quality garage floor coating, storage and auto lift systems in the Dallas/Ft. Worth market. I like to think that we are the best garage floor coating contractor in North Texas, but the fact is, there are many different options in the DFW area for garage floor epoxy services. Unfortunately, there are a lot of self serving contractors out there that don’t have your best interest in mind, that don’t have customer service, and don’t carry proper insurance. I can’t stress enough the importance of getting estimates from a qualified contractor. Here are a few tips on how to pick right contractor that fits you.

First, you want to check at least 3 reviews or references from previous customers. Ask the estimator for access to ample reviews so you may make the most informed decision before hiring your desired company for your garage floor coating installation. Some example questions that you may ask yourself are:

  • Did the installers show up on time?
  • Were the installers neat and clean on the job site?
  • Did the previous customers feel like they got good value for their money?
  • Who was actually doing the installation of the garage floor coating?

By asking these types of questions, you will get a good feel on what type of contractor you will be entering into an agreement with.

Next, be sure that you are comparing products of a similar nature. Make sure that whatever garage floor coating business you hire is using the products that you are looking for. There are big differences in the quality of the workmanship of the installation as well as the actual floor coating being applied. Always remember to ask if you are being quoted for concrete paint, basic concrete epoxy flooring, polyaspartic floor coating systems or some other garage floor coating system that is unfamiliar to you. This information is very important in determining your specific needs and wants for your individual floor coating system.

Finally, make sure that your contractor carries insurance. There are occasional accidents that happen on job sites, like any other business, and when those accidents occur, the homeowners are protected. With so many companies offering cut-rate project prices, something has to give and hopefully it is not your peace of mind because you may not be covered in case an accident occurs.

Hopefully these will be a few tips for hiring the right contractor. Call us today to receive an estimate for the garage floor you have always dreamed of at no charge or if you have any questions.

Bob’s New Custom Garage Works Mopar Garage Makeover NRH TX

We did Bob’s garage a few weeks back(sorry Bob it’s taken so long to get these up…we have been swamped with garages!) his garage was already pretty decked out with a ton of Mopar stuff. The house they built was totally awesome, the garage was just the finishing touch. We did the floor in a Outback color with a dark tan base coat. The cabinets are a all metal Garage Works line with a butcher block work top bench.

All the signage and neon signs in the garage really add that true “Gear-Head” feel to the whole garage. Bob has had some really great Mopar’s roll through his garages over the years, we look forward to many more in the future years with his new Custom Garage Works garage! Creating More Parking Space in a Garage with a 4-Post Lift

This was a lift install we had recently in the Colleyville area. The homeowner was having to park his classic Vett off at a storage facility. With the install of one of our CGW 8K lb 4-post lifts we were able to turn his 3-car garage into a 4-car garage.

The ceiling was just high enough to get both cars up and under the lift without having to raise the garage door and switch out the garage door opener, like we have to do with many installs with 10′ or lower ceilings. Also the lift can be a huge tool when turning wrenches on the cars.

Garage Storage Cabinets By Custom Garage Works

Although it is just as easy and less expensive to install shelving in your garage to organize items, garage cabinets provide many benefits that shelves cannot give you. One predominate benefit that many garage owners cite as being the main reason they opt for cabinets is the fact that cabinets have doors that enclose and conceal garage clutter, making the garage appear more clean, streamlined and even stylish, depending on the color and design of the cabinets.

In addition, you can choose to purchase garage cabinet doors that have locking mechanisms designed to prevent other people–especially children–from gaining access to the items behind the door. Since most of us keep smelly, dangerous and possibly toxic solutions and chemicals in the garage, what better way to control their use by placing them in secured, sturdy wall or floor garage cabinets. Whether you select cabinets with combination locks, tubular locking systems or standard lock and key systems, you won’t have to worry about curious kids or even adults knocking something hazardous off an open shelf.

Some of the different types of garage cabinet material include:

• Plastic resin
• Plywood
• Hardwood
• Particle board
• Medium density fiberboard (MDF)
• Stainless steel

The most durable and strong type of cabinet material is stainless steel, while the least resistant to damage of any kind is particle board. For homeowners wanting a less practical and more stylish garage, selecting hardwood cabinets is the most popular choice because of the sleek, elegant appearance the give to a renovated garage. Natural maple and alder wood make excellent material for garage cabinets because of their beautiful finish and ability to withstand years of use. In addition, most wood garage cabinets are “powder-coated”, meaning they have been encapsulated with a special baked-on finish that resists moisture, warping, cracking and allows for easy cleaning with a cloth and cleaner.

Garage cabinets are also available with interior stationary shelving or adjustable shelving that can be moved to widen the space between shelves to accommodate larger items. Regular, open shelves are not adjustable so you will need to purchase different kinds of units if you have many items of various sizes to place on shelves.

Additionally, open shelving installed on garage walls that is shoulder to waist level tends to get bumped by vehicles, large pieces of sports equipment or kids playing in the garage. Whatever is laying on those shelves when it gets struck by something substantial will be knocked off and likely strike the floor hard enough to break it.

With closed garage cabinets you never have to worry about falling tools, spilled cans of paint or pesticides contaminating the floor when you have containers securely placed behind garage cabinets with heavy-duty doors.

How To Remove an Oil Stain From A Garage Floor in 3 Steps

Oil spills lead quickly to oil stains. Move fast and you can keep the concrete surface of your garage floor or driveway from developing a permanent scar. You’ll just need a few common household items: liquid soap, a bristle brush, and kitty litter.

1. After sopping up the oil, get the stain wet as soon as possible to slow the spread of the stain. Follow up with soapy water, and let the stain soak for about 15 minutes.

2. Scrub the stain thoroughly with your brush.

3. Cover the soapy, oily stain with a layer of kitty litter. Put some weight on the litter to absorb the stain by walking across it, grinding your heels in.

This process will work best on fresh stains. Soaked-in spills will be far more stubborn. More extreme treatments may help: brake fluid, engine degreaser, or even strong acid. For a safe and permanent solution to oil stains – covering old ones and preventing new ones – we offer attractive chemical resistant coatings.

Give us a call at 214-494-9068, or drop us a e-mail at customgarageworks@gmail.com we would be glad to help you with that oil stained garage floor and get your garage space looking like a car showroom in just a matter of days.

Garage Floor Coating/Garage Makeover In Keller

Don had really spent some time and energy on his garage space to make it his own. He had the walls painted as well as the ceiling painted. Garage Painting is a chore in its self and can be a beating for just about anyone. But when the garage is painted in steps and you have the right tools it can be a labor of love when it’s all complete. Don had some great garage tool boxes and tool chests already in red so he painted the lower cabinets in red as well to match. The signature garage pin stripe really set off the walls of the garage and the two tone garage paint was a nice touch. We finished the floor with one of our custom garage floor coating systems with a med broadcasted 1/4″ chip in a custom color to match well with his garage painted walls.

Thanks Don for having Custom Garage Works put the finishing touches on your dream garage! BTW I still would love to take that Snap-On Tool Clock off your hands!

A Garage Fit For A Superhero!

Missy wanted to put her personal touch on her Custom Garage Works garage. We did the floor in a granite blk/wht/gray color with a deep gray base coat. The walls were painted in a pearl gray as well and a sweet pinstripe was put on all three walls in the garage. The trim in the garage was also painted a jet black for a bit more eye catching garage customization. Missy then finished out her garage with some Avenger Superhero Art deco. I think this is one of the more unique garages I have done over the years. Love the fact that the homeowner made the garage her own, one that really reflects her hobby/interests.

Thanks Missy it was a pleasure to work with you on your garage.
